The Faculty Council endorsed Dr. András Komócsi’s candidacy for the dean’s position

The Faculty Council of the UP Medical School endorsed Dr. András Komócsi’s candidacy for the dean’s position on its meeting held on 23 April 2026.
As is well known, the term of our school’s current dean, Dr. Miklós Nyitrai, is coming to an end, so the University of Pécs published a call for applications for the position. By the deadline specified in the call for applications, two applications—one from Dr. András Komócsi and one from Dr. Tibor Kovács—were received.
On 15 April 2026, the two candidates presented their programmes to the staff members at a general staff meeting. The applications were also reviewed by the Directors’ Council, and the final decision was made by the Faculty Council.
At the council’s meeting on 23 April, 98 members eligible to vote were present; Dr. András Komócsi’s application received 83 votes, while Dr. Tibor Kovács’s received 15 votes.
The new dean will be appointed by the rector of the University of Pécs for a four-year term and will take office on 1 July 2026.
